Tuesday, September 01, 2009 INSITE'S NICE COUNCIL MEMBER OF THE WEEK! SAY HELLO TO ANNE CLUTTERBUCK! Every time I see her there is always a pleasant smile. She always takes the time to say hello. A reminder that politics isn't all bad. I also haven't heard she takes part in any of the ugly backstabbing and gossiping that 'allegedly' goes on at City Hall. I always hear she is "such a nice person." It's what I have experienced as well in my limited contact with Council Member Anne Clutterbuck. I met her in 2005 at her campaign headquarters when she first ran for city council in District C. She was pleasant then and pleasant now. On Tuesday I was walking across Babgy Street when I saw a wave coming from a gray Mercedes Benz. It was Clutterbuck. She wanted to tell me she'd just seen and liked my report on the budget shortfall, I mean budget gap...sorry Mayor White. But I really appreciated that compliment coming from someone who is so intimately involved in the budget process. She heads the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee. On Monday I thought I was becoming an irritant to Mayor White at press conference after I continued to ask the same question over and over again. I wasn't sure what his answer was. After the conference Clutterbuck, who was standing with Mayor White during the session, complimented me on what she thought was an important question that should've been asked until I got a clear answer. The council member reminds me of that favorite teacher from school who will encourage you but tell you when you've done something wrong.
